AMSTERDAM, July 1, 2026—Unified Streaming, the video streaming software development company, has hired Jan Paul Dekker as its new CEO.

As head of Unified Streaming, Dekker will guide the company's next phase of growth. He succeeds co-founder Dirk Griffioen, who has led Unified since 2012, and will focus on its technical ecosystem and alliances.

The new appointment comes as Unified Streaming scales its technology relied on by broadcasters and streaming services worldwide. Co-founder Arjen Wagenaar continues as CTO, and the engineering team stays in place.

Dekker comes to the streaming tech company after ten years as CTO at NL-ix, an internet exchange that enables businesses to transport data across Europe through peering and cloud connectivity. Dekker professionalized the organization, helped it grow, and built new products, broadening its customer base beyond ISPs to include enterprise companies.

Before that role, Dekker spent sixteen years at RTL Nederland, the largest commercial television and entertainment network in the Netherlands. There, he led the Dutch broadcaster’s online technology, overseeing all its web sites, and in particular, its video streaming platform.

Dekker’s first years at RTL coincided with the dawn of the broadcasting industry’s practice of placing their video content online. And his tenure lasted well into the mass adoption and maturity of the technology.

"That was fun," said Dekker. "We became known at RTL Nederland as the biggest video platform in the Netherlands. We were doing full-screen video way back in the beginning of the 21st century, when everyone else was only able to show you a ‘postage stamp’ that took three minutes to buffer.”

He is glad to return to his roots.

“I've spent most of my career building online video infrastructure. And I've watched Unified Streaming become one of the most respected names in the field," said Dekker. “Having worked at RTL, then the internet exchanges, I love that I’m back in entertainment again. I have a passion for people and technology."

Under Dekker, Unified Streaming will continue to build on the mission the co-founders set: help companies around the world stream more efficiently.
