New fixes, features, refinements populate new GA 1.15.9

On 15 July 2025, the new GA software release 1.15.9 from Unified Streaming became available. The update stuffs in features and fixes to help clients worldwide stream more efficiently.
Unified CTO Arjen Wagenaar weighed in on the list of enhancements, cherry-picking nine items he’d like customers especially to know about. In brief, here they are.
1. When working with HEVC (aka High Efficiency Video Coding, H.265, and MPEG-H Part 2), you can store more information. This improves color and dynamic range calibration during decoder and display initialization.
2. Also when repackaging and streaming HEVC, and using mp4split (a command-line tool that splits MP4 files into smaller parts), you can add more information, more characteristics in the elementary stream (what’s known as the raw output of an encoder).
3. When using Unified Origin, you can get license key information directly from Origin, without having to login and search for license files.
4. For DASH streaming, we’ve updated to Dolby Vision 2.3, which unlocks more Dolby-specific features for you.
5. We’ve added a way to obtain AWS temporary security credentials, making it unnecessary to do your own scripting manually.
6. For security and peace of mind, we’ve updated the recommended algorithm for signing public keys for APT and Yum repositories. Yum!
7. For Linux users, we’ve added support for Amazon Linux 2023.
8. Our main streaming engine, Unified Origin, has been outfitted with support for HEV1 format for HEVC video segments, to comply with DVB-DASH requirements.
9. We’ve fixed a TTML (Timed Text Markup Language) subtitle issue so that file sizes don’t balloon.
The nine updates above by no means represent the whole G.A. For example, there are also fixes and performance improvements for Unified Virtual Channel waiting for you in the software upgrade, too.
